Music Photography Gear Guide: What’s in my bag?

I am a big believer that gear is just one part of the equation when it comes to photography.
The vision, the story, and the connection behind the shot are really what end up giving me that butterfly in the stomach feeling when I see a great shot. That said, having the right tools can of course help bring creative ideas to life.

So, here’s a “what’s in my bag” from my favorite camera, to lenses I use, and different accessories which just make my life easier.

My Camera For music Photography: Sony A7III

At the moment I work with only one camera, which doesn’t make changing lenses easier, but we do what we gotta do. Ideally, one day, I will be able to have two bodies with me.

The Sony A7III is the big babe of my setup, and for good reason. It’s amazing when it comes to handling unpredictable lighting of live shows. Whether I’m shooting in near darkness or capturing fast-moving performers, this camera delivers every time. Its incredible low-light performance and the fast autofocus is very reliable. It’s my go-to for creating photos that aren’t just sharp, but full of atmosphere and life.

My Lenses For Music Photography:

My go-to babe. It’s perfect for capturing the full vibe of a stage or a packed crowd. The sharpness and color pop are next-level, and the f/2.8 aperture means I can still get what I want even when the lighting’s not ideal.

Yepppp, I bought this lens for a specific job I was commissioned to do at a stadium. I knew the production was going to be huge with a very tall stage and some shots had to be taken from FOH. But it’s a must have when possible.
This lens is lightweight for its size, which is awesome because my back already hurts enough.
Plus, it’s got this dreamy bokeh that makes everything look cinematic. It’s my go-to for zooming in and keeping things sharp.

I love a good old fish eye shot. A sucker for the most cliché fish eye shot actually lol.
It’s great for dramatic, artsy shots. I think this is a must have to add a fun vibe to a portfolio.

Why I Chose This Setup

Every piece of gear in my kit has its own vibe and purpose. Together, they let me cover all the bases—from wide shots to tight close-ups and funky experimental angles. My goal isn’t just to show what’s happening but to make you feel like you’re right there in the moment. This setup helps me tell those stories.
